Diverse business perspectives added to Call2Recycle Canadian Board
TORONTO (June 24, 2013) — Call2Recycle® Canada, the country’s first and largest consumer battery stewardship program, has named Susan E. Nieuwhof of Procter & Gamble (P&G) Canada as Chair of its Board of Directors. In addition, the organization added three new members to its Board: Norman Clubb, corporate executive; Kevin Domack, Spectrum Brands, Inc.; and Bill Ivany, Melitta Canada Inc. Distinguished for their leadership and achievements, these new appointees have extensive backgrounds in strategic insight, forward-thinking solutions and financial acumen and will use their experience to help the organization grow.
Nieuwhof, a member of the Call2Recycle Canadian Board of Directors since 2010, has helped to shape the direction of the battery stewardship program. As the Corporate Sustainability Leader for P&G Canada, which manufactures Duracell® batteries, she is succeeding Nick Aubry of Sony Canada, who held the position of Chairman for the past three years.
“We are pleased to welcome Susan as Chair of Call2Recycle’s Canadian Board of Directors and extend our appreciation to outgoing Chairman, Mr. Aubry, who established a fantastic framework from which we can further the goals and mission of the program,” said Joe Zenobio, Executive Director, Call2Recycle Canada. “Building on the strength of the existing Board members, the addition of three new and influential directors like Mr. Clubb, Mr. Domack and Mr. Ivany will further develop our strategic vision.”
Throughout his career, Mr. Clubb has been an integral member of multi-national corporations, including Diversey Holdings, Inc. [now part of Sealed Air], Unilever Food Solutions Americas and The Molson Corporation. As a Chartered Accountant, he has turned under-performing divisions of his organization into successful revenue producers, both nationally and internationally. The procurement and subsequent integration of companies into the corporate fold was an essential component of his work. Mr. Clubb is a former member of the JohnsonDiversey Board of Directors, the Pepsi Lipton Tea Partnership, the International Foodservice Manufacturers Association and the Business Coalition for Sustainable Food.
Mr. Domack is the Corporate Director of Environmental Health and Safety at Spectrum Brands, Inc. which manufactures Rayovac® batteries, where he heads the company’s efforts to effectively manage hazards related to health and safety as well as liability in environmental affairs. His experience working with manufacturing facilities on four continents will provide an international perspective on global best practices vital to Call2Recycle’s efforts. On behalf of Spectrum Brands, Inc., Mr. Domack also serves as a member of the Dry Cell Battery Committee of NEMA (National Electrical Manufacturers Association).
As President and CEO of Melitta Canada Inc., Mr. Ivany is responsible for the management and direction of overall business activities and organizational policies of the firm’s Canadian operations. Restructuring Melitta when his tenure began in 2000, Mr. Ivany has reported increased profits year over year. He is currently on the Board of Directors of Food and Consumer Products of Canada and is a Past Chairman of the Board of Directors, Coffee Association of Canada as well as the Canadian Food Brokers Association, Associates Division.
“Tapping the expertise of Mr. Clubb, Mr. Domack and Mr. Ivany, whose presence on the board will be critical to the strategic growth of our program, will strengthen the capabilities of Call2Recycle,” said Zenobio. “Adding individuals of this caliber will improve our directional outlook, thereby reinforcing our efforts to responsibly collect and recycle batteries throughout the country.”
