Partnering for Elementary Education

Call2Recycle is partnering with Earth Day Canada to educate elementary-school children about battery recycling. Starting January 1, 2013 Call2Recycle will be part of two lesson plans on Earth Day’s Ecokids website. The cross-promotional activities include developing an elementary school-wide battery education program and interactive lesson plans around battery recycling. The lesson plans will be in both English & French and will have a simplified version for ESL & FSL.

“Earth Day Canada (EDC) is thrilled to work with Call2Recycle. The partnership will allow EDC to provide additional free curriculum-based education materials to schools (teachers and kids) across the country. The relationship also allows EDC to communicate the environmental values of proper end-of-life battery management while promoting the importance of Call2Recycle’s services, thus keeping more batteries out of landfills and their toxic elements out of our ground water sources.” –  Keith Treffry, Director of Communications & Development, Earth Day Canada

Earth Day Canada provides lesson plans on environmental topics ranging from renewable energy to biodiversity on the Ecokids website, www.ecokids.ca, which has approximately one million unique visitors a year. Visitors span the globe, including not only from North America but Europe, Asia and Africa, as well.
