Since 2016, ENvironment JEUnesse and Call2Recycle have been organizing an annual battery collection contest in Quebec’s educational institutions, such as schools, CEGEPs (General and professional teaching college), and secondary schools. The objective of this contest is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of recycling batteries for environmental preservation, while encouraging them to adopt ecosystem-friendly behaviors in their daily lives.
The main goal of the contest is to gather as many batteries as possible throughout the year. Institutions that manage to collect the largest number of batteries will be awarded grants in various categories. In total, 24 grants totaling $13,550 will be distributed.
Participation in the contest:
For this 8th edition, the contest will take place from August 16, 2023, to April 12, 2024. Institutions wishing to participate must register for Call2Recycle’s battery recycling program by filling out the registration form provided here. Registrations will be open until November 30, 2023.
